Boracay is located in the western part of the Visayas, precisely in the province of Aklan, one of the four provinces of Panay island.
It’s 350 kilometers south of Manila and it’s composed by three “barangays” (districts): Yapak in the north, Balabag in the center and Manoc-Manoc in the south.
The island, shaped as a dog bone, is 7 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide. The main touristic area, the White Beach, it’s 4 kilometers long and it’s divided in three stations.
The second most popular beach, Bulabog Beach, is located in the opposite side of the island. On this beach, water sports enthusiast gather to practice surf and kite surfing.
Boracay has 10 other beaches, one of the famous ones is Puka Shell beach which is located in the north of the island. Other isolated beaches include Diniwid Beach, Ilig-Iligan Beach, Punta Bunga Beach, Balinghai Beach, Lagutan Beach, Tambisaan Beach, Manoc Manoc Beach, Cagban Beach, Tulubhan Beach and Lapus Lapus Beach.
Some beaches are owned by private resorts, but several others are still reachable through dirt roads or by boat.
