How to Get to Boracay

The best way to get to Boracay is by plane.

  1. Caticlan Airport – it’s a small airport located 5 minutes away from the port of Caticlan. Its runway is small, so only turboprop planes are used. The following airlines fly here: Cebu Pacific and Air Philippines. From this airport you can get to the port by foot, or you can use a tricycle for about 50 Pesos.
  2. Kalibo Airport – it’s a bigger airport,  90 minutes from the port of Caticlan. From the airport travellers will have to take a van or use a transport service to reach the Caticlan port. There are also some international flights directed to this airport.

By sea

The more adventurous travellers will enjoy a journey by ship. The company 2GO offers a service from Batangas (2 hours from Manila) to the Caticlan port. The journey is about 9-10 hours long

By land and by sea

Another way to get to Boracay is the RORO bus – ferry. This is a land journey from Manila to the port of Batangas (by bus). From Batangas there is a ferry leading to Calapan, then Roxas, and then to the port of Caticlan. This is the ideal solution for whom is looking for the cheapest and less touristic way. The journey is about 12-15 hours long.

From Caticlan Port to Boracay Island

Once reached the port of Caticlan, tourists will have to pay an environment tax (75 Pesos), the terminal tax (100 Pesos), and the boat ticket (25 Pesos). These tickets must be acquired before passing the baggage check-in. The port is owned by the Province of Aklan, and it’s built to provide the best possible transfer to tourists who want to get to Boracay. The ferry from Caticlan to Boracay (Cagban Port during high season and Tambisaan Port during low season) works from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Night ferries are from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and the cost is 30 Pesos. There are also some ferries working after 10 PM, but you need to book them with a special transport service.
Both ports, Cagban and Tambisaan, are located in the south point of the island. From both ports you can reach the White Beach in 10-15 minutes. Outside the port there is a tricycle private terminal, the cost is 150 Pesos for 5 persons maximum. However, if you don’t have many luggages, you can leave the port and get a normal tricycle, that will transport you to the White Beach for 20 Pesos per person.
